Today (July 24, 2010) we are in Hastings, Ontario. We will stay for the weekend and rest. We have come from Trenton, the beginning of the Trent Severn Waterway. The Trent Severn Waterway is about 240 miles and 44 locks running through towns, cities, and villages. As we pass through, we see the beauty of Canada and meet the friendly people of the towns. We learn the history of the community and discover the special events that have made each individually proud to be Canadian. You never know what is around the next corner of the waterway system. Scan through the pictures and see some of what we have seen. To give you a few stats, having arrived in Hastings we have completed lock 18 and have risen 368 feet. Two of the locks were double locks, that is raising by 1 lock to a height of the next lock and then moving directly into the next lock.
