November 6, 2010 Bashi Creek to Bobby's Fish Camp, AL. We awoke this morning in Bashi Creek to very dense fog and some ice on the boat. The fog will have to clear before we would attempt to move out onto the river. Tows will not move in the fog, even with their very extensive electronics and local knowledge of the river. So we will wait. Fog lifts and we disconnect each boat and move out slowly. We finally are on the river at 8:45am. We will only go 28 miles today to Bobby's Fish Camp. This sounds like a short distance, but we only go at 8 knots (about 9.3 miles per hour). Bobby passed away in February of 2010, but his daughter has continued to operated the Camp. There was only a few docking spaces, so rafting was required. We also will be staging ourselves for the last lock of our trip. This is the Coffeeville lock and dam which will lower us to sea level. Bobby's Fish Camp will allow us to tie up for the evening just above the dam. We will join old and new friends for fried catfish at Bobby's and settle in for the night. We will get up early and hopefully get through this last lock and continue South on the river. Yea, Nancy gets to eat out.
