Foscue Creek AL to Bashi Creek AL

November 5, 2010 Bashi Creek Ancourage. We left Foscue Creek and made it through the Demopolis Lock at about 8 am heading South on the Black Warrior/Tombigbee River. More pleasure boats were coming down the BWTB now which makes for difficult dockage and anchorage. Everyone is heading South to get away from the cold. We continue to see new houses being built along the river, which is a major waterway for travel, both pleasure and commercial. We also continue to see a lot of barge traffic going both North and South. Today we will travel 71 miles to Bashi Creek. On this part of the trip, there no real marinas to stay at for the night so we will be anchoring (as Nancy says, "camping out") and it is important to find a place off the river and protected from the weather. Barge traffic goes 24 hours a day, and the barges have to make some unbelievable maneauvers through some real hair-pin turns. If you are in the way in the dark you may get crushed. Tonight we will hopefull find room in Bashi Creek. No reservations when anchoring, but everyone works to accomodate other boats. We made it into Bashi Creek and rafted with Crawdad and Monkey Girl, three across. Before the evening was over, a total of 10 boats anchored and rafted. What is now known as the Bashi Creek Yacht Club is Crawdad, Dream Fever, High Spirits, Monkey Girl, GonCruzin, Bela-Sea Casa, 30 Below, Rambler, Spring Moon, and SeaMoore. Again we were tucked in for another night. Tomorrow on to Bobby's Fish Camp. A little more civilized and Nancy get's to eat out.
